Thank you for taking the time to comment, Gwyneth. Yes, OpenSim looks very interesting. I know I'll be keeping an eye on its progress in the coming months. Well done.

Thanks so much for blogging this :) It was one fun project to do, and sufficiently "real" (in the sense that it was not really about placing some prims on OpenSim and see if they were around the next day) to give us some feeling on how far we can push OpenSim before it breaks. The results were surprisingly good, in spite of all the flaws, hiccups, and problems — which are alluded at the start of the video. Honestly, it means that at this stage you really need someone to stand by and look at the sims while the builders are doing their job. It's not like LL's grid, where the Lindens can safely have fun during Christmas or New Year's Eve and sleep over it, with confidence that when they return in January the grid will be still around :) OpenSim is not yet stable enough for that, but it's getting more and more stable with every daily release.

2009 will be a great year for serious experiments with OpenSim, and I'm pretty sure that in 2010, OpenSim-based grids will be more stable than LL's own ;)
